Welcome to The Cake Recipe, founded by Sharon, a passionate baker and mum of two, living in rural Lancashire.

I was completely surprised about the ease of this recipe and used a shot glass to cut the dough with. I made 28 little biscuits out of the recipe in small handy portions perfect for the kids, now i”m just waiting on my royal icing to be ready. they taste amazing thanks for the recipe and i cant wait to make these with my kids
Delicious!
Just made these, easy enough recipe but I found my mixture crumbled like crazy and wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be to roll out! I ended up using a little flour on my surface and rolling pin to help roll out!
Think I made mine too thick as they took a little longer to cook. I also added a little vanilla extract and some choc chips. Taste delicious
Just finished, they are lovely and I think I might dip a couple of them in chocolate for extra yumminess
Used my son’s (clean!) play-doh shapers as I do not have any proper ones!!! Thank you for a great recipe!
Brilliant recipe used this but split the mixture in half and substituted 10g of the flour in one bowl with cocoa powder and made them into swirls, worked perfectly
was rather dry so we had to add around 2 1/2 table spoon of water so it could actually stick together. if you are making these i recommend ADD WATER!!!!!
The mixture does appear quite dry but when you’re bringing it together you need to keep working it / knead it until it forms together – you shouldn’t need any water. You can add a splash of milk though if really necessary. Good luck! Sharon
Me and the kids had a great time making these. They are very easy to make and taste really good.
Thanks for posting this
Please could you give me an idea how long these would last in an airtight cake tin? (Not taking into account someone finding them and scoffing them all first!)
To keep them at their best I’d say they should last 3 days in an airtight tin.
How many does this recipe make approximately?
Hi, it makes approx 16 depending on the size. For your future reference the number of servings are always on the top right of the recipe
Thanks, Sharon. What sort of sugar is preferable?
Caster sugar, but any will suffice.
I tried out a giant shaped ginger bread man from this recipe it’s fabulous
We’d love to see a photo (if you haven’t eaten it yet). Simply email us at info@thecakerecipe.co.uk. Thanks!
Hi these cookies were so nice everyone loved them, they are good with a pinch of ginger too.
My 7 year old daughter loved making these with me, nice and quick and easy to make midweek. We covered them in icing and sprinkles.
These are awesome! I added 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and some chocolate sprinkles into the mix and they turned out amazing! I also used the half butter and half margarine tip.
We like the sound of your take on these biscuits! We’d love to see a photo next time you make them! Our email if you need it is info@thecakerecipe.co.uk. Thanks!
I enjoyed making these but had to end up adding quite a bit of milk! Next time I will take the butter out of the fridge straight away!
I haven’t tried this recipe yet, but I once tried a different one with the same ingredients ; Sugar, Flour, Butter.
The dough wouldnt seem to form, It was just thick little clumps in a bowl…
Will the same happen with this recipe?
No it shouldn’t. If it doesn’t look like it’s forming you need to keep working it with your hands or as a last resort you can add a little milk. Hope that helps.
Made these today, they are so easy to make and they taste so good. I am 13 years old and I thoroughly enjoyed making them thanks
Made these for my daughters christmas party at school, they went down a treat. Making them again tonight, so quick and easy.
Hi, how many does this make roughly? I need to make 30 for my daughters pre school!
Thanks
Hi
The recipe makes about 16 biscuits.
Thanks
